It was a chance reading of Richard Bach’s ‘Jonathan Livingston Seagull’ in 1987 that drove Dr Kondaveti Newton to read and research about past life regression.
The initial curiosity turned into a lifelong passion when, following medical school, Newton decided to study the subject further.

Talking about the phenomenon, he says, “It is different from medicine in the sense that while medicine treats the body, this treats the soul.” The concept of past live regression is centred around the belief that many of our present problems have a root in our past lives, and that reliving past experiences relieves you in the present.
Considering the controversial nature of the subject, wasn’t the going difficult for a student of medicine? “There was a lot of resistance. Many of my classmates thought I was crazy. Now even doctors come for therapy,” replies Newton.
Incidentally, he was not alone in his difficult journey, for he had met Lakshmi by then, his classmate whom he went on to marry. Following parental opposition, the two eloped and settled in Kerala.

They researched and studied past life regression together, which took them six years. Only after that did they start conduction sessions and doing therapy. “It began gradually, but soon there were positive results and the numbers kept growing,” says Lakshmi.
While the Hyderabad-based couple often conduct group sessions, they also give individual therapy in case of severe problems, like fears, conflicts, health and others. “People here are becoming aware of it but they’re more open to it in the West,” says Kondaveti, adding, “It is the science of the future.”
